About Helping Hands
Last updated: 12 July 2026
Finding a plumber, an electrician, or a mehendi artist in Assam still mostly works the way it did decades ago: you ask a neighbour, who asks a cousin, who knows someone. Sometimes that works. Often it means days of waiting, unreturned calls, and taking a stranger’s word for everything. Helping Hands exists to make that first step — finding a real, reachable professional — take a minute instead of a week.
What we are
Helping Hands is a directory. Browse ID-verified local professionals by trade and area for free. When you find someone you want to talk to, pay ₹10 (or one wallet credit) to reveal their phone number — then call them yourself, agree your own price, and deal directly. Once you unlock a number, it stays free for your account forever.
What we deliberately are not
- Not a booking marketplace. We do not schedule jobs, set prices, process payments for work, or sit between you and the professional.
- Not a commission business. Professionals list free and keep 100% of what they earn. Our only revenue is the small reveal fee customers pay — which keeps our incentives simple: list real, reachable people.
- Not a background-check service. “ID-verified” means we checked identity documents (phone OTP plus PAN/Aadhaar offline e-KYC review) — not police records, and not workmanship. We say this everywhere because trust built on honesty lasts; trust built on fine print doesn’t.
Why ₹10?
A tiny fee does two useful things. It filters out casual scrapers and spam, so professionals’ phones ring with genuine customers. And it lets us run the service without taking a cut of anyone’s work, showing ads, or selling data. Ten rupees from the person who benefits, exactly at the moment they benefit — that’s the whole business model.
Built in Assam, for Assam
We are starting where we live — Guwahati and the towns around it — and growing district by district, professional by professional. Early professionals who join us carry a founding-member badge, because they are taking a chance on something new and we want that remembered.
